President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, an official decoration for the work and support that Portugal has given to Ukraine.
According to the already published presidential decree, the award with the “Order of Jaroslav the Wise” is awarded “for a significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and promoting the Ukrainian state in the world”.
Minister João Gomes Cravinho has already made it known, through his counterpart Dmytro Kuleba, that he sees this distinction “as a generous tribute to the Portuguese people, who are alongside Ukraine, yesterday, today, and tomorrow”. He also highlighted Portugal’s support for the country invaded by Russia, hoping that 2024 “will be the year in which Ukraine is completely free from the brutal and illegal occupation forces”.
