Portugal joins the G20 at the invitation of Brazil, a reflection not only of the unique bond that unites our countries but also of Portugal’s commitment to multilateralism and our ability to promote dialogue across all geographies.
Aligned with Brazil’s Presidency of the G20, Portugal is committed to the three identified priorities: combating hunger and poverty, transitioning to sustainable energy and development, and the urgency of adapting global governance institutions to the 21st century.
The first working group meetings of the G20 have kick-started with Portugal actively participating in the WGs on Women’s Empowerment and the Global Economy. Throughout 2024, G20 members will prepare for the work culminating with the Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
