A national dialogue on Promoting Decent Work Agenda to Advance Social Justice was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) at the Foreign Service Academy today. State Minister for the Ministry of Labour and Employment Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury graced the event as the Chief Guest. Foreign Secretary Ambassador Masud Bin Momen, Secretary, of Ministry of Labour and Employment Mr. Md. Mahbub Hossain and ILO Country Director Mr. Tuomo Poutiainen gave remarks in the opening session.
Three panel discussions were convened on three key labour related issues: the Global Accelerator for Jobs, Evidence-Based National Wage Policy and Advancing Occupational Safety and Health in Bangladesh as a Fundamental Principle and Right at Work. Key stakeholders from the government, employers, workers, private sector, think-tanks, development partners and diplomatic corps gave valuable insights and emphasized the need for a collective approach to ensure decent work and foster social justice.
