New U.S. Ambassador-designate Earl R. Miller arrives in Dhaka on Sunday, November 18. Before his nomination as the U.S. Ambassador-designate to Bangladesh, Miller served as Ambassador to the Republic of Botswana from 2014 to 2018. Ambassador Miller, a career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, joined the Department of State in 1987. He served previously as Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 2011 to 2014. Ambassador Miller also served in Washington, San Francisco, Miami and Boston and at U.S. embassies in El Salvador, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iraq, and India.
Ambassador Miller was confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh by the U.S. Senate on October 11, 2018.
