The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned vehemently the attack on 9 June 2019 in the village of Sobanekou in the central Mopti region of Mali, where an armed group killed over 95 and left many others injured.
On this painful occasion, the OIC Secretary General, Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen, conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and the Malian government and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
Inviting Mali’s authorities to investigate the crime and bring to justice the perpetrators of this appalling act, Dr Al-Othaimeen called on the Malian people to address recent communal tensions in their country through dialogue.
