The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, has approved humanitarian assistance for five educational projects in Niger and Uganda.
The aid comes in demonstration of solidarity by the OIC, represented by the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF), with these countries in order to provide them with special educational services. It included providing financial support to the Islamic University in Niger, by providing US$ 250,000 to support its budget for the school year 2018-2019 and ensuring supervision of the university’s endowment project.
Educational assistance also included providing financial support to the Islamic University in Uganda and the payment of the remainder of the loan given to the University to acquire the campus in Kabuga, pursuant to the decision made by the ISF Permanent Council. The Permanent Council had recommended at its 63rd session held last December supporting the Islamic University of Uganda as it contributes to the dissemination of science and knowledge in the Islamic world.
