The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomes the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron, in which he emphasized the necessity of halting the export of armaments to Israel, the occupying force, that are used in the war on the Gaza Strip, and the priority of seeking a political solution to the conflict, which aligns with international humanitarian law, the legal opinion issued by the International Court of Justice, and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The OIC calls upon France to recognize the State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Al-Quds as its capital, reaffirming its positions in support of the vision of the two-state solution and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
The OIC further stresses that the continued provision of military and financial support to Israel, the occupying force, only emboldens it to perpetuate crimes and violations against the Palestinian people. The OIC calls on all countries to take the necessary actions, including imposing an arms embargo on Israel, ending any business activities harmful to Palestinians, and imposing sanctions to compel Israel to immediately and fully cease its military aggression against Palestine and Lebanon, which poses a grave threat to security and stability in the region.
