Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, the SecretaryGeneral of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), directed a high-ranking delegation of senior officials of the OIC General Secretariat to participate in the national memorial service New Zealand would hold on 29 March for the victims of the terrorist attack on the two mosques in Christchurch. The OIC delegation will also offer condolences to the families of the victims and to New Zealand officials.
Al-Othaimeen reiterated the OIC’ssolidarity with the Muslim community in New Zealand, stressing its support for “all that enhances the peaceful coexistence between Muslims and the communities of which they form an integral part.” He also stressed the OIC’sposition rejecting all forms of violence, extremism, and terrorism, and stated that terrorism “has no religion nor nationality and that the world has a real chance to uproot it.”
