Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Mr. Narek Taryan had a meeting with the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Ambassador Masud Bin Momen in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mentioning the historical ties between the two countries, the Foreign Secretary welcomed the Deputy Minister to Bangladesh and expressed the hope that this visit will give a fresh push towards strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the areas of trade and commerce. The Foreign Secretary made some suggestions on how to expand the areas of cooperation including sending a business exploratory mission from Armenia to Bangladesh to re-trace the historical links and build on that, adjusting to contemporary necessities.
The Foreign Secretary also apprised the Armenian Deputy Minister on how Bangladesh is positing itself as a regional connectivity hub. The Deputy Minister welcomed the suggestions. He also stressed strengthening trade and economic ties mentioning that Armenia can be a trade gateway to the Eurasian region. He expressed his interest in working together in promising sectors including IT. The Deputy Minister invited the Foreign Secretary to visit Armenia.
The Armenian Deputy Minister for Economy is currently on a 2-day brief but engaging visit to Bangladesh leading a 4-member delegation aimed at exploring areas to expand trade and economic relations. The delegation visited the Armenian Church this morning and is scheduled to visit the Ministry of Commerce, EPB, and DCCI.
