Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait hosted a Reception Program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-Kuwait relations long with the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh at the Crown Plaza on 23rd April 2024. More than 400 guests attended the program including Ambassadors and members of diplomatic corps in Kuwait, high officials &dignitaries of Kuwait, member of Bangladesh Military Contingent,members of local press & media and members of Bangladesh Community in Kuwait. Sheikh Firas Saud Al Malik Al Sabah, Minister for Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the State of Kuwait was present as the Chief Guest at the reception program.Major General Md. Ashikuzzaman, ndc,afwc,psc, G (Retd.), Ambassador of Bangladesh in Kuwait and other Officers of the Embassy and their spouses welcomed the guests.
Thecolorful receptionbegan with the national anthems of Bangladesh and Kuwait. After thatAmbassador Major General (Retd.) Md Ashikuzzaman, in his welcome remarks, thanked the Chief Guest Sheikh Firas Saud Al Malik Al Sabah, Minister for Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the State of Kuwaitfor gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. He also expressed his deep gratitude to the Amir, His Highness Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the government and the people of the State of Kuwait for their continued support to Bangladeshi nationals living in Kuwait. At the end, ashort cultural program mesmerized the audience.
In his speech, the Ambassador mentioned that Kuwait is the first gulf country to recognize Bangladesh after its independence. Since the establishment of Diplomatic Relations in 1973, Bangladesh and Kuwait are enjoying excellent bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas including political, economic, export and import, trade and investment, manpower, agriculture, education, tourism and defense sector. Ambassador expressed that under the dynamic leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and visionary leadership of Prime Minister of Bangladesh Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, the bilateral relationship between two friendly countries will reach a new height.
In his remarks, the Ambassador invited Kuwait and all the friendly countries of the world to invest in the Special Economic Zones and share benefits of mutual growth and prosperity.In his speech he also focused on the tourism sector of Bangladesh. Depicting Bangladesh in a land of beauty. The Ambassador requested all to visit Bangladesh to enjoy the natural beauty and hospitality of Bangladeshi people. In the concluding remarks, the Ambassador called upon all Bangladeshi people living in Kuwait to contribute to their maximum in making Bangladesh “Sonar Bangla” Golden Bengal as dreamt by the Father of the Nation the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
It is noted that, on the same day, Bangladesh Embassy brought out a Special Supplement on“The Arab Times”, a renowned English newspaper of Kuwait, as part of the celebration of Fifty Year (Golden jubilee) of Bangladesh-Kuwait Diplomatic Relations.
