Bangladesh and Denmark enjoy excellent trade and investment relations and the ties has been growing encouragingly in the recent times- the remark has been made by the Bangladesh Ambassador to Denmark Muhammd A. Muhith during a business networking event hosted by the Bangladesh Mission in Copenhagen today. The event organized at the Chancery, was well represented by the top managements from thirty Danish companies working in the field of renewable energy, shipbuilding, information technology, readymade garments, pharmaceutical, dairy sector, among others, was intended to expand interactions between private and public sector representatives of the two countries.
The visiting high-level delegation from Bangladesh led by Additional Secretary Dr. Nahid Rashid, Wing Chief, Coordination and Nordic, ERD and representatives from Bangladesh Shipping Cooperation also participated at the event. Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ms. Winnie Estrup Petersen, who was present at the event, welcomed the Danish investors to take the unique opportunities that Bangladesh offers to the foreign investors to do business in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh opened its resident Mission in Denmark in May 2015 to boost the trade and investment relations between the two countries. The trade with Denmark has been growing steadily over the last few years with an encouraging positive trade balance in Bangladesh’s favour. In 2017-18 Bangladesh’s export to Denmark was US$ 730 million while import was worth around US$ 100 million making a positive trade balance of US$ 630 million. Investments from Denmark has been seeing a positive trend with growing Danish investment in dairy, pharmaceuticals and green growth including renewable energy sectors.
