Bangladesh is marching on the highway of progress and prosperity adopting the development philosophies of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. To portray Bangladesh’s robust development and potentials, the Embassy of Bangladesh, Tokyo organized “Development Fair -2018” on Friday (05-10-2018). The event turned into a vibrant celebration through participation of many invitees.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan,H.E. Ms. Rabab Fatima, inaugurated the fair.In her welcome speech, sheelaborated the development history and highlighted major factors that contributed to the miraculous development of Bangladesh. She said that the visions and the development strategies of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu have been the foundation of Bangladesh’s development roadmap.Referring to the Vision 2021 and Vision 2041 of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, she highlighted key areas where future growth potentials will be centered upon and urged the invitees to contribute to the ongoing development process to realize the Visions of the Prime Minister.
The Ambassador pointed out that as recognition of the tremendous achievements over the last decade, the Prime Minister has been honored with many prestigious awards including the Millennium Development Goals award, Achievements in Fighting Poverty award, Planet 50-50 award and Agent of Change award. This year she has been given Global Women’s Leadership and Distinction Award for outstanding Leadership.
Highlighting the history and importance of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Japan, the Ambassador also gave an account of cooperation between the two countries that worked as a significant boost for the economy of Bangladesh. The ambassador said that Japan was the largest development partner as well as the biggest export market for Bangladesh in Asia. Many of the large development projects in Bangladesh were financed and assisted by Japan, the ambassador added. She urged the expatriate Bangladeshis present at the occasion to contribute to Bangladesh’s development by creating employment opportunities in Japan, transferring technologies to Bangladesh and channeling investment and businesses in Bangladesh.
The Ambassador’s speech was followed by a presentation on the evolution of development and ongoing initiatives. Dr. Ziaul Abedin, Counsellor of the Embassy, made the presentation to complement the speech of the Ambassador. A video was also played to showcase the recent development of Bangladesh.
After the presentation, the audience engaged in a vibrant and constructive discussion on the role of expatriate Bangladeshisin the development of Bangladesh. The guests participated spontaneously and proposed several though-provoking suggestions and comments. They expressed their satisfaction for being able to join the program and thanked Embassy for organizing such event. The discussion ended with a unanimous commitment to fulfill the dream of Bangabandhu and strengthen the hands of the Prime Minister to realize Bangladesh’s development goals.
Various publicity materials and booklets containing development information were distributed to the attendance. The guests were also entertained with traditional Bangladeshi foods.
