An MOU was signed on 18 August 2021 between Egypt Air and ALO Dhaka Aviation Ltd to operate two scheduled flights per week, with provision to increase, starting from 01 November 2021 on the following scheduled routes: Departure: Cairo Monday, Thursday 13:30 – Arrival: Dhaka 01:05 next day. Departure: Dhaka Tuesday, Friday 02:35 – Arrival: Cairo 06:40 02. Airbus 330-300 or newer aircraft will be used with 280 seats (20 business class) plus six tons of cargo per flight with options to increase both. The EgyptAir connecting flights with a stopover in Cairo will go beyond Cairo with competitive fares in destinations that would include Paris, Frankfurt, Geneva, Barcelona, Athens, Istanbul, Dares Salaam, Addis Ababa, Abuja, Nairobi, Accra, Kampala, Kigali, Khartoum, N’Djamena, Jeddah, Medina, Baghdad, Muscat, Dammam, Bahrain, Riyadh, Dubai, Amman, Beirut, Toronto, and New York. This may include more stations when Egypt Air will work with full capacity.
Although Egypt Air is operating now at 65% of its capacity, it agreed to start Cairo-Dhaka-Cairo direct flights to boost its vital tourism sector. This will, however, provide a cheaper option to Bangladeshi passengers and cargo destined for Europe and North America, being an alternative to Dubai and Istanbul. Our expatriates and businesspersons might be benefited helping our economy to grow as well.
