The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan, H.E. Rabab Fatima, urged the investors and businesspersons of Nagoya to invest in Bangladesh, in a seminar held today at Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighting the investment and business opportunities in Bangladesh. The seminar was attended by around eighty business representatives of Nagoya –Japan’s fourth largest city and the automobile hub of the country.
The seminar was organized by the Embassy of Bangladesh, Tokyo with a view to informing the entrepreneurs of Nagoya about the business-friendly environment prevailing in Bangladesh in collaboration with Nagoya City Office, Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). It was supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Japan -Bangladesh Committee for Commercial and Economic Co-operation (JBCCEC) of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The participants and guests at the seminar were welcomed by Mr. Takashi Kawamura, the Mayor of the Nagoya City. The keynote paper of the seminar was presented by the Ambassador. She highlighted the socio-economic development of Bangladesh highlighting the transformation in every sector in the past one decade.
Ambassador Fatima elaborated on the key factors of industrial development of Bangladesh and the strategies to attain the “Vision-2021” to be a middle-income country and “Vision-2041” to be a developed country declared by the government. The Ambassador also mentioned the participation and contribution of women in the development of Bangladesh. Citing the excellent bilateral relation between Japan and Bangladesh, she thanked Japan for its support to Bangladesh’s development efforts.
The Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Nagoya Mr. HisakazuMizutani also spoke at the event while representative of JICA Ms. Masumi Okamoto explained the current trend of Bangladesh economy and JICA’s project in Bangladesh. Mr. Taiki Koga, representative of JETRO Dhaka made a presentation at the seminar describing the opportunities, facilities, and challenges of doing business and investing in Bangladesh. Tsutomu Hashimoto of Sumitomo Corporation shared their experiences of operating business in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Honda Pvt Ltd (BHL), Kazuya Hashi talked about BHL’s operation and expansion process in Bangladesh.
A short Video Documentary on the economic advancement of Bangladesh was also screened on the program. The seminar ended with open question-answer session and business networking.
This is the fifth development and investment seminar organized by the Bangladesh Embassy in recent months, which have reached out to a large cross section of the Japanese society, including businesses.
