The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, DC organized a reception to mark the 53rd Armed Forces Day.

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington D.C. hosted a reception to celebrate the 53rd Armed Forces Day. The event was held in the evening at the Embassy, with Vice Admiral J. Brad Skillman, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Integration of Capabilities and Resources, serving as the Chief Guest.

The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of Ambassadors, Diplomats, Defense Attaches, Senior Officials from the Pentagon, Department of State, and other U.S. Government offices. It also brought together members of the Bangladeshi diaspora, as well as Embassy officials and employees.

Chargé d’Affairesa.i. of Bangladesh to the United StatesMr. DM Salahuddin Mahmud, and Brigadier General MdShahedul Islam, the Defense Attaché of the Embassy addressed their remarks.

In his address, Vice Admiral J. Brad Skillman praised the Bangladesh Armed Forces for their invaluable contributions to safeguard national sovereignty and promoting global peace. He highlighted the Bangladesh Armed Forces’ leadership in disaster relief, support for the destitute, and commitment to peace and stability worldwide. Skillman also emphasized that Bangladesh’s position as the largest contributor of troops to United Nations peacekeeping operations has earned global recognition for its dedication and sacrifice.

Furthermore, he underscored the strong partnership between Bangladesh’s and the U.S. Armed Forces, expressing his enthusiasm for continued collaboration to advance peace and prosperity.

In his speech, Chargé d’affaires Mahmud paid tribute to the three million martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice during the War of Liberation, including many members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. He emphasized the deep and multifaceted defense collaboration between Bangladesh and the United States, noting that both nations share common perspectives on key defense and security issues. Mahmud also highlighted the USA’s support for Bangladesh’s development journey, reiterating Bangladesh’s commitment to working closely with the U.S. to strengthen ties and foster future engagements.

Brigadier General MdShahedul Islam, the Defense Attaché, extended a warm welcome to the guests and thanked the U.S. for its ongoing support and cooperation, which has been mutually beneficial for both countries. The event also included a screening of a documentary on the Bangladesh Armed Forces, showcasing their dedication and activities.

The program concluded with the cutting of a cake by the Chief Guest, Vice Admiral Skillman, and other dignitaries, marking the end of a memorable evening.Mr. Ataur Rahman, First Secretary of the Embassy, conducted the programme.
