Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo, today (05-08-2021) observed the 72ndBirth Anniversary of Shahid Captain Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due solemnity.
The program started with offering a special prayer (munajat) in presence of the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan H.E. Shahabuddin Ahmed and all officials of the Embassy.
Later in his speech, terming Sheikh Kamal as the “ideal son of an ideal father”, Ambassador highlighted his vibrant life and works, especially his contribution to our liberation war and other movements, as a sportsman and organizer for the promotion of culture and sports. He also mentioned examples of multitalented Sheikh Kamal including political wisdom, vision, and various initiatives for the post-war development of the country that he displayed in his short span of life. Ambassador Ahmed remembered with deep sadness BangamataFazilatun Nessa Mujib and other members of the Father of the Nation who along with Sheikh Kamal embraced martyrdom on the fateful night of August 15, 1975.
Deputy Chief of Mission, Shah Asif Rahman also took part in the open discussion on the contribution of Shahid Kamal in a sports arena. A documentary was screened highlighting the life sketch of Sheikh Kamal.
