Highlighting stronger bonding between ASEAN and Bangladesh, the ASEAN Dhaka Committee (ADC) on Wednesday organised the ASEAN flag raising ceremony at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia here.
The ceremony was followed by ASEAN Food Festival in commemoration of the ASEAN Day 2018 where Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, MP, attended as the chief guest.
Masurai Masri, the high commissioner of Brunei Darussalam; Rina P. Soemarno, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia; Lwin Oo, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines; Panpimon Suwannapongse, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand; William Chik, Consul of the Republic of Singapore, Idham Zuhri Mohamed Yunus, Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. of the High Commission of Malaysia; Tran Bao Son, Chargé d’ Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam; Ambassadors, High Commissioners and diplomats, Foreign Ministry officers, the business community and members of the media also attended it.
The ADC Chairperson highlighted the importance of the ASEAN Committees in Third Countries in supporting the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and reiterated the recognition of Bangladesh as a close friend that ASEAN can and will continue to constructively engage within many dimensions, as well as that of the ever-increasing Government to Government, business to business and people-to-people contacts between ASEAN and Bangladesh.
The participants also had the opportunity to appreciate delicious cuisines from eight ASEAN countries at the food festival namely Chicken Rendang, Nasi Bakar, Nasi Lemak, Vermicelli Soup, Polvoron, Fried Mee Siam, Papaya Salad, Fresh Spring Rolls are among those.
