The High Commission of India organized a flag-off ceremony for the 100-member Bangladesh Youth Delegation to India at Dhaka on 27 March, 2019. The delegation will embark on a 7 day visit to different cities in India such as New Delhi, Agra and Hyderabad, where they will see prominent cultural and historical sites, business centres, apart from holding interactions with the youth of India in educational, business, IT and technological institutions.
Chief Guest H.E. Mr Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, MP, Hon’ble Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh and High Commissioner Smt. Riva Ganguly Das addressed the members of the delegation. Mr. Mashrafe bin Mortaza, captain of Bangladesh’s ODI team and Member of Parliament was the special invitee for the event. This year marks the seventh year of the Bangladesh Youth Delegations’ visit to India. The first such Bangladesh Youth Delegation had visited India in 2012. Members of the 2019 delegation include 40 young Bangladeshi women and 60 young Bangladeshi men, drawn from different regions of the country, diverse backgrounds and educational institutions of Bangladesh. They comprise of doctors, artists, sportspersons, journalists, engineers, models, radio jockeys, humanities and science students, social workers, among others.
