Government of India has been supporting various development projects in Bangladesh in sectors such as education, health, water, culture, urban development, disaster management, etc.
The High Commission of India today signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for three new development projects under Indian grant assistance. All three projects are in very remote areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts and involve construction of four storey India-Bangladesh Friendship Building each in Matamuhuri Junior High School, Maungpaikhoi Headman Para, 2 No. Chokhyong Union, Ali Kadam, Bandarban District; Thega Khubbang High School, Barkal, Rangamati District – this will be the first four storey academic building in the area; and Gachban Junior High School, Khagrachari District. The total cost of these projects is BDT 5.85 Crore. The projects will be fully funded by Government of India.
High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Mr Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Mr U Ui Chara Bhikkhu, President of the Governing Body of the Matamuhuri Junior High School, Mr Jitendra Chakma, Headmaster of the Thega Khubbang High School, and Mr Bhupati Chakma, Headmaster of the Gachban Junior High School were present at the signing ceremony.
