Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) awarded certificates today (20 April 2019) to 65 students who achieved Sarafat Chowdhury Merit Scholarship for their outstanding academic performance in Fall 2018 in a
Ceremony held in the University Auditorium. Mr. Sajjadul Hassan, Honorable Secretary, The Prime Minister’s Office, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest while His Excellency Benoit Préfontaine, High Commissioner of Canada in Bangladesh attended the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Dr. Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, Hon’ble Chairman & Board of Trustees, Canadian University of Bangladesh chaired the program.
The university has provided scholarships worth approximately Taka 135 million to 1547 students since its inception. On top of that, students having Golden GPA-5 in their HSC and SSC level, are getting 100% tuition fees waiver and 5 thousand-taka monthly stipend. Today, the students received certificates as part of the program.
On the occasion, guest speakers congratulated the scholars for their outstanding results. They also urged students to dedicate themselves in nation-building activities and inspired them to work with sincerity and aptitude to obtain the highest position in the society. They also expected that CUB will continue their efforts to contribute to the higher education of the country.
Mr. Shahnul Hassan Khan, Executive Chairman, Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Sheikh Mozaffar Hossain, Treasurer, Mr. Bahauddin Muhammad Isa, Acting Registrar of Canadian University of Bangladesh were also present in the ceremony as Special Guests.
Faculties, Deans, Chairpersons of different departments, staffs, recipients and their respected parents were also present at the ceremony.
