Swedish International Development Agency signed an agreement with UNDP Bangladesh to support with SEK 33,374,600 in a social transfer project.

Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) signed an agreement with UNDP Bangladesh to support with SEK 33,374,600 in a social transfer project named ‘Strengthening Women’s Ability for the Productive New Opportunities (SWAPNO-II).

Mr. Anders Öhrström, Head of Development Cooperation, Chargé D’affaires of Embassy of Sweden in Bangladesh and Mr. Sudipto Mukerjee, Country Director, UNDP Bangladesh signed SWAPNO-II project agreement at the UNDP Bangladesh Country Office, Dhaka in Bangladesh.

This project will benefit 3600 Bangladesh’s poorest women living in rural areas of Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha and Jamalpur, prone to the negative effects of climate change, of out of extreme poverty, primarily by making use of productive income-generating opportunities.

SWAPNO-II will be implemented by the Local Government Division (LGD), Government of Bangladesh in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the period of September 2019 to November 2021.
