In continuation of the high level defence cooperation between Armed Forces of Bangladesh and India, 15 young couples of Indian Army are visiting Bangladesh from 06-12 July 2019. This is a significant milestone in the history of bilateral relations as this is first of its kind visit in Bangladesh, wherein 15 mid level officers of Indian Army, each accompanied by their spouse are visiting Bangladesh. The delegation is visiting Bangladesh on the invitation of the Chief of General Staff, Bangladesh Army.
The Indian Army delegation is being airlifted from Kolkata on 06 July 2019 by a specially designated aircraft of Bangladesh Army. During the visit, the delegation will meet senior officers and interact with mid level officers of Bangladesh Army. Apart from various official engagements, the delegation will also visit Bijoyketon Museum, National Parliament, Cox’s Bazar, Proyash, Liberation War Museum, National Mausoleum and Hatirjheel.
The visit is the reciprocal visit in nature wherein 25 young couples of Bangladesh Army had earlier visited Delhi, Agra and Kolkata from 26 Nov to 02 Dec 2018. These visits were suggested by Bangladesh Army Chief during discussions held with the Indian Army Chief on his first visit abroad after taking over as Army Chief. The visit is aimed to enhance people to people contact in the backdrop of our enriched common cultural heritage and will go a long way in enhancing co-operation and inter-operability between the two Armies.
