Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people and government of China on the occasion of Chinese New Year.
In a message, the Prime Minister said the relations between China and Bangladesh are strongly bonded characterised by mutual trust and close cooperation.
“The ever-growing nature of our political and economic ties has advanced us in a trajectory of collective growth and prosperity,” reads the message sent on January 21.
The Prime Minister said Bangladesh’s historic tie with China is an important contributor to the cultural relations and people-to-people contact between two countries, according to the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
She said Chinese New Year is a prominent and celebrated festival marked by family reunion. “It is remarkable that Chinese people in Bangladesh have also been celebrating Chinese New Year amid festivities.”
She also wished continued peace, progress and prosperity of the friendly people of China.
The Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, has more than 4,000 years of history and is the longest holiday of the year.
Chinese New Year begins on February 5 while the public holiday is from February 4 to 10.
