Canadian University of Bangladesh arranged a workshop on “Empowering Youth through Human Rights Education for Preventing Gender Based Violence” on 26 February 2019 (Tuesday) at the Auditorium of the University. Mr. Sheikh Salahuddin Ahmed, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and President, South Asian Lawyers Forum (SALF) was the Chief Guest of the event while Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam, Pro Vice Chancellor, Canadian University of Bangladesh chaired the workshop.
Dr. Abdullah-Al-Monzur Hussain, Head, Department of Law, Canadian University of Bangladesh gave the welcome speech and Abdullah Al Noman, Director Programme, Youth for Human Rights International, Bangladesh Chapter and Barrister Sayma Tahmin, Lecturer, Department of Law CUB moderated the workshop.
The guests urged to create social movements against women and children torcher. Along with others Dr. Nurul Islam Babul, Head, Department of Film & TV, Dr. M Mamoon Al Bashir, Academic Director, MBA & EMBA Programs and Dr. Md. Shahrukh Adnan Khan, Head, EEE Department participated in the workshop.
Shariar Nafees, Secretary General, Youth for Human Rights International, Bangladesh Chapter, Assistant Professor Lutfunnesa, IUB, Shahrin Tilottama, Human Rights Activist, Engineer Sadrani Asna Purbasha, Advocate Mohammad Anamul Haque Enam, Human Rights Activist and Advocate Sharmin Parvin, Director, Institute for Development of Human Rights and Legal Education were present in the program. 40 Law Department students were participated at the workshop.
