On Friday, January 26 at UNHQ the Missions of Portugal, Cabo Verde, and Costa Rica, in partnership with the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, “Stimulate Discussions on Armed Drones – What is the UN’s Role?” An event was organized. On the occasion of the event in a Twitter message stated that Armed Drones have become less expensive, more accessible & more often used by State & non-state actors alike.
And yet, they have traditionally not been a topic of multilateral debates. Today’s event with Costa Rica, Cape Verde and the United Nations gathering 140 participants, showed interest in further exchanges.
