Portugal and Egypt mark half a century since the reestablishment of diplomatic relations, an anniversary that reflects a shared commitment to bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Over the past 50 years, Portugal and Egypt have consolidated a relationship based on constructive dialogue, promoting political, economic and cultural collaboration. This partnership, based on respect for the principles of the United Nations and international law in all its dimensions, has proven to be fundamental for strengthening regional stability and for pursuing joint initiatives in areas such as trade, tourism, education and security.
In a year already marked by close contacts between the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Rangel, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Badr Abdelatty, the diversity of Portuguese-Egyptian ties and the desire to deepen this historic relationship and explore new opportunities for collaboration stand out.
The Portuguese Government reiterates its confidence in the strengthening of this relationship and reaffirms its commitment to continuing dialogue and cooperation between Portugal and Egypt, in a spirit of friendship and mutual respect.
