The unveiling ceremony of annual magazine “Poriborton” of “Bangladesh Writers-Journalists Association, Qatar (BWJAQ) was held recently at Shalimar Restaurant. Dr. Mohammed Sirajul Islam, Counsellor (Labour) at Bangladesh Embassy in Qatar was the chief guest of the event while Qatar News Agency chief editor Khaled al-Zeyana was a special guest of honor. The meeting was presided by the president of BWJAQ AKM Aminul Haque and moderated by Mafizur Rahman. Vice principal of Bangladesh MHM School & College professor Zulfikar Azad & Nurul Kabir Chowdhury, General Manager, Arabian Exchange were among the special guests.
“Poriborton” stands for “Changes” in English, a motto and commitment of BWJAQ to bring about changes within and peripheral for the betterment of society & individuals. A number of renowned academic from Bangladesh and Qatar contributed articles, essay, composition, memoir and poems in the magazine. Hasanul Haq Inu, Minister, Minister of information, Bangladesh and H.E. Ashud Ahmed, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar have also penned down their respective message of appreciation on the occasion of publishing the magazine.
The chief guest Dr. Mohammed Sirajul Islam emphasized that first and foremost we all must abide by the rules and regulations of the law of the land, Qatar. Nobody should do anything unlawfully that can draw a stain on the existing cordial relations between Bangladesh and the host country. Qatar is always thankful to workforces of Bangladeshi expatriates living in Qatar for their hard work; Khaled al-Zeyana said in his speech. The general secretary of BWJAQ Noor Mohammed (Noor) submitted the annual report during the meeting. Committing “Poriborton” within the association itself, he also focused on the upcoming BWJAQ elections to held in due as a practice and symbol of democracy. President AKM Aminul Hoque thanked the sponsors, Advertiser, well-wishers for being with the association from the inception. Nurul Kabir Chowdhury, General Manager, Arabian Exchange called BQJAQ as the “beacon” of four hundred thousand Bangladeshi expatriates living in Qatar. A number of distinguished Bangladeshi community leaders namely, Omar Farook Chowdhury, Eng. Anwar Hosen Akond, Abdus Sattar, Saiful Alam, Shajahan Shaju, Kafil Uddin, Jassim Uddin, Alamgir Ali and Kazi Ashraf were present in the event.
